Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy applies to everyone who uses Turnuply, including school owners, instructors and staff. It is part of our Terms of Service. Turnuply sends messages to families on a school’s behalf, so these rules protect families, schools and the carriers that deliver messages.

1. Messaging rules

  • Do not send spam or unsolicited messages. Message only people who have given the consent described in our SMS / Messaging Policy.
  • Do not message anyone without consent from the student (if an adult) or the parent or guardian (if a minor).
  • Do not buy, rent or scrape contact lists. Only upload contacts you collected as a school or from your own systems.
  • Honor opt-outs right away. Do not message someone who replied STOP, and do not ask us to override an opt-out.
  • Do not try to avoid quiet hours or frequency limits, or to disguise who the message is from.
  • Use the service for your school’s relationship with its students and families, not for third-party advertising or unrelated products.

2. Prohibited content

Do not use the service to send, store or share content that:

  • harasses, threatens, bullies or intimidates anyone, or promotes hate or violence against a person or group;
  • is unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive or misleading, including phishing or scams;
  • is sexually explicit, or sexualizes or endangers minors in any way;
  • infringes someone’s intellectual property or privacy rights;
  • impersonates another person, school or company, or falsely claims an affiliation;
  • includes malware or code designed to damage or gain unauthorized access to systems.

3. Protecting people’s data

  • Do not misuse information about minors. Use it only to run your school and to serve the student and family.
  • Do not upload photos or videos of students without the permission of a parent or guardian where the law or your policy requires it.
  • Do not use the service to collect sensitive information that you do not need, such as Social Security numbers or card numbers, or to make decisions about a person’s eligibility for credit, housing, employment or insurance.
  • Do not share account access or links with people who should not have them.

4. Protecting the service

  • Do not scrape, crawl or harvest data from the service by automated means, except through tools we provide.
  • Do not reverse engineer, decompile or copy the service, or use it to build a competing product.
  • Do not resell, sublicense or provide the service to other businesses without our written permission.
  • Do not interfere with or overload the service, or bypass usage limits, rate limits or security controls.

5. Security testing

Do not test the service for vulnerabilities, or access other customers’ data, without our written permission. If you find a security issue, report it to support@turnuply.app. If you act in good faith, avoid privacy violations, do not access or change data that is not yours, do not disrupt the service, and give us reasonable time to fix the issue before disclosing it, we will not pursue legal action over your report.

6. Enforcement

If we believe someone is breaking this policy, we may investigate, remove content, block or hold messages, limit features, suspend or end access, and report to law enforcement or carriers where appropriate. We may act without prior notice when needed to protect families, the service or other customers, and we will try to tell you what happened. Messaging may be paused automatically when carriers or our providers flag a problem, such as a high rate of opt-outs or complaints. You are responsible for losses and claims caused by your violation (see our Terms). We do not refund fees for periods when access is suspended for a violation.

7. Reporting abuse

If you received a message you did not agree to, reply STOP to stop it. To report abuse or a policy violation, email support@turnuply.app.
